How A Salt Inhaler Works For Health
When you breathe through a salt inhaler, dry sodium chloride particles are inhaled into your respiratory system. The dry salt naturally starts absorbing allergens, toxins and foreign substances from your lungs, and throughout your entire respiratory tract. The salt can help immensely with reducing any inflammation, and opening your airways.
The micro-sized crystal structure of pure NaCl particles breaks loose and clears out all of the debris and toxic elements. This is the basis of the action why inhaling through a salt pipe can be of great benefit for people who suffer from respiratory conditions. Such conditions include allergies, asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, COPD and more.
An easy way to have this impressive therapy in your home for use whenever you need it, is to have a salt inhaler (or two or three) always at hand. You should consider having at least one salt inhaler for each member of your family.
Himalayan salt pipes can be bought very cheaply, considering the return they give you and the health benefits that they offer. Click here to see how inexpensive at HimalayanSaltShop.

How To Make A Himalayan Salt Pipe Inhaler
If you are only a little bit handy, or know someone who is, then you should be able to make a simple Himalayan salt pipe yourself. It may be basic, but will work just as well as a bought one.
Just get a hold of a salt or pepper shaker and drill a lot of small holes in the bottom plastic seal. If you don’t have a drill, then you should be able to pierce little holes with a darning needle, a skewer or a sharp pointed knife. You need to ensure the holes are large enough so you can suck a reasonable amount of air through, without too much effort.
A little experimenting will soon sort that out for you. Make the holes smaller to start, and if you find it a little hard to breathe in – then just make the holes a little bigger. You don’t want the holes so large that the salt pieces will fall out though!
Make sure any plastic shards are discarded and don’t remain inside the shaker. Then, fill it loosely with your Himalayan Salt, pop the top inside your mouth and breath in deeply through it!
If you don’t have a salt or pepper shaker you can use, they are pretty cheap to buy. You could also check out garage sales and opp shops, where there are usually a decent selection.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the salt or pepper shaker is of such a design that the top will fit nicely and comfortably into your mouth – as you will hopefully be using it a lot.
You do need to make sure the shaker is not made of – or painted with – anything toxic. Glass or ceramic work well.
This is a really great ways of making a lot of salt inhalers to give to friends and family. Share the benefits of Himalayan salt around!
What Salt To Use in a Himalayan Salt Inhaler?
First, I would suggest that you ascertain that the salt you use is certified “Fair Trade” salt.
Then, use only pink Himalayan salt “coarse grind crystals”. This is a specific size to ensure you get the best results from your salt inhaler. It won’t jam your inhaler or fall out. And the grind size ensures an easy flow of air over the salt crystals.
In my opinion, the healthiest, highest-quality salt on the planet is from SoWellMade. They are so confident that people will love their Himalayan Salt products, that they give you a whopping 90 day satisfaction guarantee. Quite impressive, if you ask me.
Their coarse grind salt is pictured to the right and can be purchased here.
Here Is How To Make Your Salt Inhaler:
Find a Good Looking Salt or Pepper Shaker
Make sure it has decent sized holes
Pierce holes in the bottom plastic stopper
You may need more holes, or larger holes
Fill your shaker with Himalayan Salt pieces
Small chunks of salt work best. They just need to be large enough so they don’t fall through the bottom holes. But, small enough so there is a lot of surface area to give you plenty of salt particles to inhale. The best salt crystals to use can be purchased here.
And there you have it! You have just made a Himalayan Salt pipe for next to nothing. Now you will be able to make a few more to share among family and friends.

I want to express my thanks. I have heard how himalayan salt can help lots of health problems but never got around to getting any. This seems to make it all possible.
Great website you are making and this article is excellent. Congratulations and keep it up.
Very good. i didn’t know salt could be so good for us.
Hello, this is wonderful. I am going to make a salt pipe right now, i have a couple of old sale shaker I don’t use. thanks
Dang, what if you got the fine crystals? I assume it would be much better to buy the bigger rocks, yes?
Yep, Barb – the finer salt will come out the bottom hole, sorry. Slightly larger chunks are needed. You don’t need large rock salt pieces though. The ones I use are around the 1/4 of an inch size, give or take.
Hlo.. can I use a nasal inhaler if I use coarse salt? It would be way easier for me to carry at work. Thanks!
Yes, as long as it will fit in your inhaler, meaning not huge chunks.
Could a person put a cover with an inhaler hole over a salt lamp, turn it on and then breath that? Would you get the ion effect?
I suppose you could just breath in the air over the top of the lamp?
An even easier way is to pop some salt crystals into a little cotton, loose-weave bag. Hold it under your nose and sniff deeply:-)
I just purchased a salt pipe. I can’t find instructions anywhere on how long the salt last, and any other cleaning instructions. If you have any please forward to me. Thank you Kathy
You can empty the salt out and wash the container if you are concerned. Then refill with the same salt, or fresh salt if you prefer.
